There is so much wrong about the way we deal with issues , and not only in present. It has existed for centuries in isolated cases, but is on a much larger scale now. Starting by teaching responsability for actions to our children is a first huge step.

I agree with your view Doc.

Rumor

You are right. We left a church with double standards and said exactly why.

DR_JPT...

I feel double standards are wrong no matter where, or for what reason - sports teams, clubs, classrooms, churches immediately come to mind...We went to a church where a double standard existed and confirmed by the adult leader...no way could that be justified, but others looked the other way and it was allowed....

You are correct. That group of others unable to make that 100% left a mark that can and will return often more dangerous than the initial. We must watch and pray.

Judging is not the purpose here though that is exactly as it seems.  All are different and do things in different degrees at different times.  The point I would like to make is that our difference need not cause pain and suffering needlessly to others. Most of all if it did, do not continue making others suffer, especially those who have done you no harm.

i am a firm believer in forgiving, not judging, and living by the Golden Rule with eyes open and facing whatever enters my zone as a peacemaker with the necessary tools.

You are right. They need people in their lives to provide structure beyond the normal time because NOTHING about their life is normal after instant fame and fortune.

You are so right. I have written a children's book. It goes to print next week. It's deals with conflict resolution.  It will be a teaching and learning tool. I hope many children k-3 learn lessons about bossy behavior, tattling and the difference between reporting information for safety and gossip. It is my goal to complete a series.

Some people start out a life of crime and then turn around 100% change as they get older and mature.

I think we are all different, judging me by my past behavior would be wrong and misleading. I have done bad things in my life, but now I don't. God said judge not, he also said ask for forgiveness and be saved. I am paraphrasing of course.

It seems to me to be sad when very young people ...sports, music, film, whatever...gain Superstar almost God like status. How can they possibly cope with the arena that they have been thrust into. They come to see themselves above the law with occassionally terrible consequences.

Good post.   We really need to consider how we can help young people become better people instead of rewarding bad behavior and encouraging it.

It is amazing how much some people are allowed to get away with.

I have never had any respect for Urban Meyer! And I think Hernandez is nothing but a thug and I hope he gets his just due, too! sam

anyone with a lot money it seems they can go around the laws.

They only get more serious  when  they  get off  the  first  time from a bad  incidenet after  someone  covers  for them.  That  man may  not have died  if the first incident  had  consequences.  Hernandez himself may have been better  in the longrun, if he had  consequences earlier on.

Unfortunately, things of this nature, where a well-known or acclaimed athlete, or actor, or rock star, who "crosses the line" and runs afoul of the law, and practically gets away with it, is nothing new. Little by little, these people are being made examples of, and shown that they are not above the law! Hernandez is next . . .
