Re: adnohr

I always felt bad because the last 4th of July of Chipper's life we went away for the evening leaving her outside because she loved being outside.   She was a 13 year old collie/golden retriever mix who hated loud noises.  We came home to find she had died of a heart attack while we were gone.

I have a feeling my neighbors are going to go crazy tonight. Thankfully, they are two houses down, and I have a fan.

Re: JimmyA

That sounds like fun (for someone).
My four sons would set up battlegrounds for their multitudes of little army men and then take turns seeing what damage they could do on each other's set up.

For us, it was watching my two older brothers blow up my WW II model airplanes that I had so painstakingly built and painted! -sigh-

Re: lustorlove

I've been thinking about you a lot living in a place where the grieving/mourning is such an enormous part of life right now.

I live in a 55plus park and its so quiet I dont think they stay up past 9.  I understand that the fireworks have been cancelled here because of so many fires and the tragedy that happened earlier this week.  Have a fun fourth

Re: mariss9

We have them in the wooded area across the road.  The little wild animals there love them....the squirrels, raccoons, opossoms.  I don't know if the deer can reach them or not.  Personally, I don't like them because they taste kind of like bananas and I don't really like bananas.  When my sons were young, we used to pick them for their grandma.  She loved them.

Happy 4th of July!!

It's illegal to buy or set off fireworks in the city here - I suppose they're worried that someone will set a park on fire or blow up their house (a real possibility, so I don't mind this law...).

Even as a Canadian, I find your 4th of July a bit exciting - the amount of pride you guys have in your country is quite moving. Hope you enjoy the celebrations!

I would love to see a good fireworks display in person; the noise all night would be another thing.  The paw paw tree is one I would like to have if I had a yard.  The fruit sounds good too.

Dogs don't care for the noise either, but I enjoy it! Happy 4th, TAPS!

For some reason, here in Colorado Springs, private fireworks

are strictly forbidden, though the Deciders have given the nod for certain official displays after all, on account of the much cooler, more humid days we've had lately, and the rainfall.

Grand 4th, Everyone!

I'm one who doesn't enjoy the unexpected blasts.

Love the bright displays, though.  Have a great holiday, Taps. :)
