I read you story with great interest and a pang of sadness. It IS disheartening when we lose touch with someone who meant so much to us for a big part of our lives. Sometimes it’s a slow and almost unnoticeable drifting apart but other times it’s a mystery such as it was in your case. You may have found your answers but I suspect it left you with a heavy heart.

Re: lustorlove
There are hypocrites in every walk of life (politics, entertainment, business, not just religion) and yet that does not keep us from going to the movies, going out to eat, going to vote, etc. Everyone, at some point in their lives pretends to be something that they are not, most of the time not even realizing what they are doing because it is such a part of the human being. Others see it in us before we see it in ourselves.

Every thing changes Taps, I think your idea is wishful thinking. Might be nice just to have a look around,

For the record, I never for a moment thought you were part of those
goings-on.

I've heard that saying, time heals all things. Sometimes renewal and change are a good thing. For me, it's acceptance that becomes the challenge.

I cannot help thinking the situation today is warmer and friendlier
in that congregation, and that sooner or later the good wins out.

Taps
I believe there is a passage for such a person. It would have been better that he had a millstone thrown around his neck that to have offended one of his little ones. We are all his little ones compared to his power and love. I knew you were not a part of that.
