Vinegar might work, but I'd check for breaks in the pipes first as well . . .

Annicita
I have absolutely no clue, but I'm getting some ideas here that should come in handy if it ever happens to me...

Well we had our sewage pipe blocked once with roots and we opened the drain cover cut them out and removed the offending bush ' It was not very deep only about a foot below the ground. The authorities have cutting implements that slice roots, we have to be careful what chemicals we put down drains as the water in some places has been consumed before. Cheers.

I think that there sprays or liquid things you put into the drain...I am not familiar with them though.

Maybe those solutions in the comments would work. My kidneys have been better since I got the online solution, maybe it works for plumbing too. A hardware store or Walmart could probably offer suggestions, even if you have to wait for a few mystery shopping payments. I am still fixing too.

If there are roots in your plumbing,
does that not also mean that the pipes are broken? Unless you are talking about septic tank connections, pipes with holes that roots infiltrate. I beleive there are products to kill such intrusions. I'd look online.
