Wow, mariss. That actually sounds somewhat dangerous. But I fully understand the financial aspect. The insurance companies are "bleeding" everybody dry, and this is what some people have resorted to. I'm glad it worked out for you. God bless band-aids . . .

I have purposely removed skin tags  of various sizes when I only had supplemental insurance and was practically bankrupted having any medical procedures done.  I put alcohol and peroxide and a band aid on and that was the end of the story.

Re:

That's true, lustor. If it was getting larger, I think I'd have bigger problems to worry about than the general appearance of my mustache! Yes, there are many men who actually look better with a mustache ( Tom Selleck and Burt Reynolds come to mind ), but unfortunately, right now I'm not one of them! Yes, the wife is very happy with her "smooth kisses" . . .

I love the look of a ruged man with a mustache, but glad your wife is happy its gone.  At least the mole is getting smaller rather than larger

Re:

A spiv, C C T? Just because you were sporting a mustache? Over here, a spiv ( or what we might call bums, tramps or hobos ) would never worry about isolating a mustache on their faces . . . they would probably opt for the full facial of hair, beard and all! That being said, I think this little "blemish" gets less and less dangerous and unsightly each day, and I don't believe a trip to the doc's is going to happen over it anytime soon . . .

Re:

Maybe I did, Against! If I couldn't have it removed altogether, I guess whittling it down to a point where it's barely noticeable is probably the next best thing . . .

Re:

Hmmm indeed, Dr JPT. Again, it was not done on purpose, and it took years to even notice the size difference. It wasn't as though I took any type of blade to it intentionally and simply sliced away! Perhaps one day I'll wipe my face clean after a good shaving and it will gone altogether, although I highly doubt it . . .

Re:

Well, Utah, hopefully the mustache doesn't detract from the "dancing" in any way! But to be honest, regardless of the mole situation, I think I look a little better without mine, and I think I may look a little younger as well. It looked fine until all that gray showed up . . .

Re:

Ya really think so, Kabu? I mean, it's been there all my life, and is now so small and barely noticeable, and hardly ever bleeds anymore. I know some moles either are or can indicate some form of cancer, but I really don't believe that's the case here. I think I'll just live with it for now . . .

Re:

I was glad to report that it had stopped bleeding too, FSI. I actually tried an electric shavor for a while several years ago, and the mole aside, for some reason it just ripped the hell out of my face! I guess I'll just stay with the careful motions of my razor . . .

Re:

I actually wouldn't either, Dragon. It just seemed somewhat ironic that, over time, my shaving had begun to remove the mole that had basically kept me from shaving all those years in the first place! I'm sure this situation is somewhat unique . . .

Re:

A little freaky, huh, TAPS? Believe me, I would never take a knife to myself and try to remove any unsightly blemish, and I wouldn't recommend anyone else doing that either! But I think my shaving may have started a "war of attrition," and that mole appears to be losing . . .

Re: Jimmy

I didn't think anyone actually would, Naut. It just appeared that I have been unintentionally performing a little surgery on this particular mole over time, whittling away at it, making it less and less noticeable. No recommendations here either . . .

I am with with Kabu on this Jimmy, I would just get it checked, I know no one wants to do these things, It may be just a blemish.

A doctor told me if it moves it is usually not harmful, but he was referring to sebaceous  cysts. Yes I grew a tash until a little girl said to her Mum. 'look

Mum a spiv.'

With all of your determination about shaving, it appears that you willed the facial mole away!

Never, yet it seems plausible. Hmmmm

Like you, I grew my mustache when I was a teenager in the Marine Corps, that was in 1967, it is still there...As for my wife, well we hold hands...Mostly, except on Saturday and Tuesday nights when we go dancing...Well that's she calls it.

because the size has changed...even if smaller it is still change, I would have it checked and myself would recommending a surgical professional removal.....

I myself have not heard of such a thing before...I have a mole on the right side of my face. When I shaved with a razor (I later moved to electric), I never had any problems...That is interesting that the mole has gotten smaller, and I am glad to read that it stopped bleeding.

I have never heard of this!!!

I liked the way you went through the story.. I wouldn't recommend anyone for trying this self-surgey though!!

Naut has a good comment here for you.  But, I must say, that was quite a post.

Jimmy

I had never heard of that! And as someone who's had two 'moles' of basal cell carcinoma removed from his face by a proper surgeon (they were the result of constant over-exposure to Sun while sailing), I cannot recommend self-diagnosis and self-surgery at all...
