I am happy for your daughter and her husband..but sad for the fact that your son has not been able to find a job. Possibly he could go to an emplyment agency and they can help him, they do not charge anymore they get paid by the employers. Just a suggestion.

The old adage that blood is thicker than water seems to apply here as you cannot help but feel for you son and his predicament. I worked all my life in the auto industry in one way of the other, owned a body shop for 5 years and a business adapting vehicles for the disabled for 10 years. When I sold my business after the law suit between myself and a partner, I thought getting a job would be a simple matter, but my age got in the way, no one wanted to hire an old man when there were so many young men to chose from...Lucky for me I was able to retire, draw social security and work for minimum wage for a while...I wish your son well, and tell him to never give up...Perhaps he could start a small business of his own?

I guess this is one of those situations where as a mother you feel some what torn. I am so happy daughter and SIL are getting on in their life together, but yes it is tough for your son.

Anytime someone suggests hiring a friend or a relative at a place that they themselves had just started working at, there's always the risk that the person won't live up to expectations, and the person who made the initial suggestion ends up looking bad. It's happened before. But sometimes people fool you. However, I do understand your SIL's hesitance, and I suppose being envious doesn't really help anyone . . .

That is great that your son-in-law found a new job...I've had times too where I was happy and envious at the same time.
