- Go to Credits That Are Now End Credits
I watch a lot of old movies too, many from back in the thirties...There must have been many evolving, as those movies have the credits at the end as well.

Your explanation for why movie credits have evolved makes a lot of sense to me...There don't seem to be any memorable theme songs for sitcoms coming out these days.

Interesting. My wife and I have noticed, and discussed, this very topic several times ourselves. She always felt that, if you worked on or had any input in a movie in any way, shape or form, wouldn't you want some kind of credit for the work you did? As such, that's why the ending credits go on and on and on, letting us know who the assistant-assistant director was, who changed the lightbulbs, who the caterers were and who drove the company van. And of course the guy who brought everyone their donuts and the girl who tied someone's shoelaces deserve a credit too! Some credits scroll on almost as long as the movie itself . . .
