I should not think they would ever look at the mountain I would say there is a preservation order on the trees, have you checked that out ,one can't just chop trees down. I have a large tree but I would not be allowed to remove it and I don't want to anyway,
Of course you could put a price on the removal enough to buy another Homestead away from
them altogether.

OH yes please keep the trees. We need more trees anyway. Yes, plant more trees!!!! And while your at it ask them if they will plant some trees to help beautify the neighborhood. Ok maybe that would be too much but really .. the gall to ask you to cut your trees down. It sounds like you have been more than accommodating by keeping the limbs cut from their yard.
KEEP YOUR TREES!!!

I definitely would want to keep the trees. Perhaps they should have thought about that before they bought there.

I believe you have your answer! The majority always wins, right? Don't cut your trees down. It takes a long time to grow them and look at all the pleasure you have gotten from them over the years. It took us a few years to get a good stand of trees in our front yard and now the majority of the yard is in shade in the summer. So much nicer to mow in the shade than in the sun on the hot days!

It's your property so Keep the trees. You've trimmed them back. I agree don't give in.. you'll win. Ask yourself this. Would they cut down their trees for you? I don't think so.

By all means - keep the trees! They're entitled to cut off the branches that overhang their properties, and that's it. You have neither a legal nor a moral obligation to remove the trees you love! The trees were there when they bought their houses - tell them to learn to live with their choices...

Since you're asking for, and expecting, everyone's advice and/or opinion, I say . . . keep the trees! Peace between neighbors is one thing, but since the trees were there first and are yours, I would tell the new neighbors to simply deal with it! My wife has grown several trees, bushes and plants for the sole purpose of creating a wall to block out the neighbors! We don't feel the need to view the debris in their backyards . . .

It's your house
keep your trees! They knew the trees were there when they moved in - if it was such a big problem, maybe they should have bought a different house!

Well if I was going to buy a house I would not dream of thinking I could ask the neighbours to remove their trees. Not only that it will spoil your enviroment . Here one would be allowed to trim back to the boundary and return the trimmings ,but that is all. Not only that it costs a lot of cash to have trees removed and why cram everything up to your boundary.

Stand your ground until by law you required to cut. Big groups take away individual rights and privilege just like this. They buy a parcel, then let idividuals do thier dirty work little by little and swallow the little guy by beating them up to get compliance.
You can tell this is a pet peeve. On the small scale it is the same as a bully in passive-aggressive mode.
