Never heard of the game Pat, but how different to today, speaking above the monotony of the television, one really enjoyed company. Real characters were formed and remembered for their camaraderie .

I like your uncle Mac - it takes a confident man to marry a taller woman, LOL. 

I had to look up Pinochle, since I really don't know the game (I only play Bridge and Poker), and found this interesting tidbit on Wikipedia: "During World War I, the city of Syracuse, New York outlawed the playing of pinochle in a fit of anti-German sentiment."

Gotta hand it to the Syracusians for theirheroic war effort...
