Our family has used both and it does not matter either way to me. I will not know.

My father's body was cremated,
and afterwards, my eldest sister who had made all the arrangements, said she would send my other sister and me a portion of the ashes. Up till then, it all seemed simple and reasonable. It didn't happen, because as a WW2 vet, he's entitled to have his remains interred at Arlington National Cemetary. I believe many who have a loved one cremated still inter the ashes in an urn or box or whatever container they choose.

I have had family members who were buried and family members who were cremated. For me it does not make a difference. I am not a grave goer.

I told my children, my mom and my hubby that I want to be cremated. I don't want anybody at my memorial who didn't take the time to be nice or keep in touch with me....if you don't care while I am alive why bother once I am dead?
I have been collecting music and poems that I want read at my service. I don't really care for one but I know the service is more for the living than it is for the dead...The livings way of saying good bye
