It is those very ''polluters'' that have the capital to invest in an alterntive energy
economy. Instead they want to rip every last mineral out of the earth....

It's very difficult to weigh one against the other, for one simple reason: the damage has already been done. From everything I've read and heard, even if we were to somehow stop all carbon emissions from this moment on, regardless of their source, the amount of pollution already in the air, and the amount of damage both the weather and the ozone layer have already sustained has made it way too late to reverse! Thanks to the Industrial Revolution and its subsequent constructs, we've made our beds and we now have to lie in them . . .
