Another one of my favorites! Here's another one of those behind-the-scenes factoids you may not realize . . . Did you notice that when it was time for Moe to take a facefull of clay, the thrower was literally right next to him? That's so they wouldn't miss! But when it came for something to be thrown from a distance so that it came from off-camera and into someone's mush, Moe was the thrower because Moe was the most accurate! It stemmed from all of those pie fights the boys engaged in. The studio had a very low budget, and couldn't afford to bake dozens of pies just to get the odd four or five "in the face" scenes they needed. Each throw needed to be accurate on the first shot, and Moe was the man with the golden arm! I guess if he wasn't in show business, he could have been one hell of a pitcher . . .
