I remember my grandmother getting aggressive after she developed Dementia...A lot of wise advice here in this blog.

You are right on this. I have a friend whose son was sent and released after 72 hours. She tried to get him longer treatment to no avail. Now he has murdered a friend and attempted suicide. A change needs to be made in this area due to the many addicted and those with any form of mental illness. It is more prevalent than most want to assume.

another good post that addresses problems that I dealt with
When a new resident arrived at the Nursing home I would go through their usually huge bag of meds with the Dr. Some people had been seeing 2-3 dr's plus alternative health....their meds would be a mess and the dr would have no idea. So we would sort out what was what together and remove all but the necessary ones. Very often with a well balanced diet and proper skin care and hygiene, and a big reduction of what chemicals they were on, we were able to improve their quality of life enormously.
Another tip if you can't get a relative into where you want them is to ring every week or so and ask if there is any changes is your loved one close to the top of the list.
