I agree with...well...everyone!

It's not selfish to want to enjoy a quiet life with your wife. Most parents raise kids with the assumption that when they stop being kids they'll stop living at home...sadly, these days though, adult children seem to be returning to the nest frequently!

It's a tough situation for all - try to stay patient and hope their situation turns around quickly (for your sake, and the poor cats!)

You are not selfish. You may have to HELP THEM OUT of your house in a way that puts them on their own or eventually you become a guest in your own house.

The trouble is the old uns are living too long Jay, I would try and get a trailer and say it is for visitors, but I think you may have left it a bit late .

I do not feel that you are being selfish...One of Dad's employees, Harold Walger, is going through that with his son and has found himself watching the granddaughter (age 4) while his son is at work. After taking care of his parents for eleven years and then his mother on her own for another year, Harold needs the rest.

You are not selfish...the children are. They just think it is their right

to take over your space. It is most unfair to your cats as well for their space has been taken over by intruders. Can you ask for a time limit????

I don't believe you're being selfish. I can't speak from experience, because I don't have any children, but obviously you're torn between loving and caring about your kids ( and grandkids ) and the fact that the quiet home and laid-back lifestyle you're now experiencing ( finally ) is being infringed upon. There's no easy answer for this one of course, other than for you to remain as patient as possible! Perhaps one day soon they'll surprise you! Best of luck . . .
