It's not the puddles my Meeka has a problem with, its any type of metal cover in the ground. She will surely step around, or stop and find a another way. And she definitely stays away from sprinklers, lol.

Poor Ben

I can't reach toys under the couch either (I have the opposable thumbs covered, but suffer from "short arm syndrome"...). I also do not like the rain one bit, but LOVE jumping in puddles.

A dog, like a man, prefers to be off leash

and to think that coming when called was his idea in the first place.

Hm, I think I would be worried Naut if Ben took off  and was absent for a while. Perhaps it is good for him though, he can do his own thing, probably get rid of his doggy frustrations and return kind of happy in his mind.

I know exactly what you mean about that hi pitched graowl they make when they need help to get something they want... its impossible to ignore!    My doggie also hates rain but I am not so strict and did buy him a very cute yellow raincoat that even has a floppy hat loll  He was miserable the first few times I made him wear it but eventually I think either he resigned himself to it or he saw the advantage it gave him of not getting wet.  DJ ( that is his name ) is a Shiva Inu and probably descendent of wolves though he is much smaller, cutter and not so scary.  I don't know how big your coywolves are but the only experiences I have had with wolves were in Montana when I was a teen and while  walking in the woods ( I always liked walking in the woods  loll) I once saw a huge grey one... and I mean scary HUGE!  He did not pay me any attention and just walked away but not fast enough that I could not admire how strong and beautiful he was... I was in love!  and ever since I have been involved with any and all efforts to protect wolves here in the states.

This is DJ ... not quite a wolf ... sometimes he looks to me more like the foxy type  loll   I do love him :-)

Be well Naut  xoxoxo

That is interesting his reaction to rain and all those puddles...Most dogs I see go right through the puddles or do not react negatively to rain...You have some diverse wildlife there.

I know that the majority of doggies out there would much prefer to "run loose" than anything else, but if there's any danger at all from any type of "wild animal," then that leash will at least keep him close by!  Having to fend off the odd squirrel now and then should be the most he should have to deal with . . .
