- Go to Muslim States reject UN ban on violence against women...
Please excuse the spellings in the post below. I wrote on my tablet and it posted before I could check. I hope that between the mistakes my intent is clear.

Believe it or not Naut, women are against women here in the US in ays that are not understood, seen, or realized. Men are not needed to abuse female for many women are hateful on their own. It is starting in the schools and not dealt with effectively or not at all. When I worked at a school and was on morning duty. I saw a girl eneter the restroom. They were not to be in the building. After I saw another one go in after her, I entered to find one in the both in the stall with one attempting to sexually assualt her by kissing and fondling.
Many American female groups have no interest because they do not want to get involveed or they enjoy hearing and seeing pain inflicted on others. We live in a world where violence is enjoyed because it does not effect the on looker.

I've just finished reading A Thousand Splendid Suns (by Khaled Hosseini) which is mostly about the oppressive life of Muslim women. I still haven't recovered emotionally from the story and your post brought it all back. This also emphasises the reality of such stories - the book might be classed as fiction, but the events it describes are happening every day, to women all over the world (including Canada and the US).
One does not need to be a feminist to find this behaviour abhorrent; you only need to be human.

I am not surprised that those member nations rejected the ban...Not surprisingly, the media is extremely quiet about it.
