View this as WHAT YOU DO NOT KNOW WILL NOT HURT YOU. You did not have to worry about a thing nor did you wonder if she was having fun or anything about the trip. I learned that it is a part of control and the less you know, the less you have to think about. No news is good news. Good think aloud. :-)

I agree with Kabu. It probably would have been a courtesy more than anything else to let you know of her plans. God forbid anything happened, at least you would have been aware of her travels. I'm sure the "hurt" was unintentional . . .

Perhaps she thought she already had told you at some point since she had already told you "June".  People are so busy these days, and everyone is forgetful.

i always told my parents what I intended to do. It wasn't asking

permission it was just a courtesy information. I guess because it is Father's day and I am feeling the loss a bit makes me more sensitive and think that she could have just let you know.

I am glad I am not the only one that feels that way

I ALWAYS tell my mother if I'm going somewhere - especially if it involves getting on a plane. She doesn't need to know and I certainly don't ask her permission. But I know she would be hurt if I took a trip without telling her.

I'm sure your daughter didn't mean to hurt you, but it sounds like she has done just that, I'm sorry to hear it

While I do not have kids, I would feel hurt if my parents or sister did not tell me when exactly they were going somewhere. I imagine they would feel the same way...I wish her and her husband a nice time there.
