It was the White House and those in it that caused all of this...Now they can arm our enamies...Again.

I thought this post was hard to read.  Perhaps it was because I was fresh from a nap and not fully awake.  I did get one thing out of it....."I see no good solution to any of this."

A bad decision, indeed!

As several have already said, thanks for the clear and concise post!!

I agree wholeheartedly that America's decision to get involved is bad, but for different reasons: America is broke, and this conflict is none of their business. If the Sunni and Shia Muslims want to blow each other up, let them do it.

I don't think it is possible for us to know any thing about the true facts

in Syria...perhaps we aould be better staying clear...saving our money.

Once again, I'm trying to view both sides of the coin. No easy task, as you well know! First, let me say that I too feel you have explained this overall situation wonderfully, and the only "missing gaps" are the ones that no one knows for sure anyway, as you've pointed out.

Here's my take: regardless of when WH Amateur ( according to Bill Clinton ) got his information or acted upon it, the "doubled-edged sword" has already been swung. If he takes any kind of action now, everyone will fault him for not only taking so long, but will question his overall motives and badger him to make sure these weapons fall into the "right" hands ( if not, they will crucify him later ). However, if he sits back and does nothing, especially after it is now public knowledge that he is well aware of the gas strikes ( and the resulting deaths ) he'll appear insensitive, weak, untrustworthy, and any other negative attribute the rest of the world can heap upon him! The cards are definitely stacked against him, and at this point in time, he cannot win!

I say, give both sides as many weapons as they desire, pull out the civilians, wall off the entire country, and let them annihilate each other!

I really don't know where to start so I will begin by telling you what you already know... that you are by no means the only one that sees no "good" solution to that mess.   I got to say this though  :-)  You ARE the only  one that has explained what its going on in there on terms I could clearly understand.  Usually in social discussions people go off on tangents so detailed that by the time they realize they lost me somewhere I am in my second or third drink and unable to follow further loll Now, having lived among them and carrying some of their blood in me I do know one thing:  no one, and that includes the AW ( according to Clinton, lol) would be able to stop Israel from carrying out something they consider to be in their best interest security wise,  no matter what the threats are or the prizes they are promised  there is no way the Israelites would  not blow up the Iranian nuclear program because they were told not to do it.  You can bet your life that  for them to back off they had to have  intelligence which made that move either unnecessary or unwise.   I personally think that there is no Arab group moderate enough or sufficiently trustworthy  to be given arms to... Haven't we learned our lesson with Ben Laden and his band of disgruntled barbarians?  We  armed them against the Russians ,  trained them and then what?  they became a threat to us... even Saddam Husein was in a way product of our playing Master of the Universe.  There are so many other examples... Don't these people we have entrusted with leading us  study history?  Again Naut... It is what it is, but how crazy is it?  Be well my friend :-)  and thanks... xoxoxo

You do a great job at summing up what is going on in Syria in this entry...I agree with your Laws of Conflict and do not see this ending well either.
