And yet, if anyone was to claim that the schools are indeed teaching hatred, seperatism, genocide, anti-Semitism, etc., you will then hear the arguments concerning "free-speech" and "freedom of religion." Try to imagine what may have happened if, in 1933, people around the world were able to quickly and immediately ascertain what Hitler and the Nazi party were up to, and stepped in and did something about it, essentially nipping it in the bud. WW II would probably have been avoided ( at least on the European continent ), and millions of people would not have needlessly died! But just try to relay the same concept or view concerning Muslims and see what you come up against . . .

We have only three Islamic Schools in Alberta - 2 in Calgary and 1 in Edmonton. I know this because, upon reading your post, I looked them up. Then I read the student handbook from the Edmonton Islamic Academy. This is a school intended to replace public schools - not a supplemental educational tool; as such, they claim to adhere to the curriculum laid out by the Alberta Government.
Then I read the student/parent handbook. They expect graduates of the EIA to be a practicing Muslim, a person of good character, and:
3. Is intellectually well-rounded: Acquainted with the basic principles of Islamic belief and objectives of Islamic jurisprudence. Familiar with Islamic history especially the life of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) and his companions. Familiar with the modern history and geography of the World. Understands and appreciates the multicultural aspects of the Canadian society. Is able to seek and find necessary information when needed.
I stopped reading at that point, because I just can't stomach any more. Sorry for the long comment, but I thought you'd find this interesting/distrubing/disgusting...

It has always been that adherents of certain faiths sent their children to their own private schools if they could afford it: catholics to parochial schools, protestants to private Christian schools, etc. But, we've never worried so much before what was being taught o children who went to special schools. Islamic schools present a problem that we didn't have to face much before 9/11. How can one not wonder?

Yes, I say that you have cause to wonder about the curriculum there in the Ontario madrassas.
