my sister is like that too...but i found out that when you don't wait around and just do what you were going to do and leave them scratching their head as to why you didn't wait...they get the message. also once we didn't make a scene and she was no longer the center of attention when she arrived....it just wasn't the same for her
also try turning the tables on them and being late when they get there even if in fact you really are ready....

I am afraid I would have been a bit miffed myself...I can see maybe 5-10 mins but not nearly and hour! Knowing me I'd have probably called her nail salon if I couldn't get her on her cell!

There are just some people out there who have no concept of time, or time management. I have a friend who is the exact same way! Always late, always making everyone else late, and never, ever looks at his watch! And calling someone to say he would be late? Unheard of . . .

Very frustrating!
Hubby's family is notorious for being late. With everything. All the time. We know this, and plan for it - if they say dinner is at 6pm, we expect to see food around 7pm.
Our wedding was scheduled to start at 3pm; I told his family it started at 2pm, to be on the safe side. Sure enough, they showed up at 2:45, bursting with apologies and wondering why we hadn't started without them.

I would not have been too pleased with her either...My father runs late as well. I often just give him tell him to arrive earlier without telling him that he can arrive later in order to give us time.
