My Canadian Government already tells me what kind of health care I can have; they also dictate wages (in the sense that I can't make any less than minimum wage...). If you work for a union in Canada, the level of control over your job is extreme - unions dictate salary, hours, tasks, bathroom breaks, uniforms, etc.
I don't agree with it, but I wouldn't call it a Totalitarian system. In my house, we refer to it as "Socialist Nonsense".
