Of course it's unpleasant, but may not be all that bad. If I were you I would explain to the chief honcho at the bank (in person) that the owner (who's still the owner until the deal is finally closed) has permitted you to occupy the place until then...

A tricky situation there...I would hold off putting money into the house until the closing does occur.

Darn it!! Those ¤ holes!!! I have to agree with Kabu here, Sam. Get the quote, but hold off putting more value in the house until you have it signed in your name.

go ahead get some quotes but don't put real money into the house.
You are just making it more valiable and you could get kicked out. I am so sorry Sam.

I agree with both previous comments, I would not put 1 more cent into that house until you have legal proof that you own it. More BBB complaints might curb the short sale scams and fiascos. They might do something more decisive if they face possible complaints.

I would not put money into your new home until it is signed and sealed Sam. You could regret doing so, hopefully not, but there is quite an expense looming. I know it is a wretched state to be in, but better to be safe than sorry.

Someone needs to complain to the state attorney general's office
and the Better Business Bureau and maybe even the local media/newspapers about this BS. Saw a commercial this morning where one character said the bank loan officer's spiel smelled like BS (Bank Speak). Clever commercial. True. Seems to me the whole banking industry has gotten away with highway robbery and they've kicked the S out of the economy with their shady practices, yet nobody gets in trouble for it.
