Re:

Thanks, mariss. And you're absolutely right. In this particular case, there was probably no logical reason for that curator to have done otherwise . . .

Rules were made to be bent with common sense and kindness.  Great Story!

Re:

Sure, why not, lion? I believe that, in this particular case, it couldn't have done any harm to anyone or anything. Just the opposite, in fact. You know reading that diary just made that woman's day . . . and life!

Re:

Thanks, Dr JPT. And I have a feeling that, even if his bosses discovered what he had done, they would certainly have condoned it. How could they not? I suppose a good deed a day keeps the blues away . . . for everyone!

Re:

It sure was, sam. That's why I had entitled this piece "it's never too late." I guess the "powers-that-be" wanted, somehow, someway, for her to read that diary, no matter how long it took!

Re:

You're very welcome, Mia. It's nice to read a story of this caliber once in a while, isn't it?

How lovely. Sometiems rules just have to be ignored

Truly amazing and heart warming.  He is the type person who did a good deed by circumventing the rules, for it was personal. Great post.

Re:

As we all should, Utah. Perhaps if more people acted on such instincts and "bent the rules" a little now and then, the world could be a much better place. One act of kindness could lead to another act of kindness, and before you know it, everyone is at peace. Fantasy? Perhaps. But there's nothing wrong in dreaming, is there?

That's true, Kabu. I guess he saw no real reason to deny this woman access to something that was technically hers anyway. I don't think I had ever read of a curator doing anything along those lines before. He definitely made it a "happy ending" for this woman . . .

Re: Jimmy

No shame there at all, Naut. I tried to put myself in that woman's shoes, and feel as she may have felt, finally getting to read that diary after all these years. A wonderful story indeed . . .

Re:

You're welcome, Annicita. Yes, with all of the "bad" news we constantly hear and read about, it's nice to have a tale like this to brighten our day a little . . .

Re:

Yes it was, C C T. I'm sure he made that lady's day, and probably her life as well. Remember, she never thought she would ever see that diary again . . .

Re:

It really was, FSI. But something tells me that, had that curator refused, he probably would have felt terrible about it later. Hey, no harm, no foul, nothing got damaged or destroyed, and no one got hurt. I didn't see any problem in allowing her to read that diary . . .

Re:

You may be on to something there, lustor. Heaven knows Hollywood could use a few decent ideas for a good movie! Obviously there hasn't been too many these days . . .

such a sad story but in a way it has a happy ending though. Yes that

curator is a person with a heart and it is lovely to read that rules can still be bent when the time is right.

That is so nice of the curator going against policy and letting her read the diary...It is great that she got to read it after all those years.
