I agree with you, I mean it makes sense to me. Someone with my beliefs shouldn't be on the Jury at a trial like that in that State.

Defence lawyers have been using the "battered woman syndrome" defence for years. I'm not sure if it's a recognized disorder or not.

As to why she would go so far to be with him, or still love him - that's not uncommon in abusive relationships. A complex mix of emotions and blame can keep an abused woman trapped for years.

Regardless, I feel the same way you do - this woman is sick, and life in jail hardly seems an adequate punishment for her crimes!

I feel that she should get the death penalty too...In Maryland we recently got rid of the death penalty.

some people like me don't belive we have the right to put a human down

like a sick animal so we believe that it is better to put them where they cannot hurt anyone else...for the rest of their life.

having said that, if a jury member living in the State that has the death penalty, feels as I do, then they should excuse themselves from the job.

It means you're a normal human being with normal emotions, and had a genuine reaction to the circumstances. In one way, people will feel she should suffer intently by spending the rest of her life in prison. But remember: then the tax payers will have to foot the bill for her meals, housing, clothes and medical attention for the rest of her life! Not fair either! Probably easier for everybdy to just throw the switch! Or, these days, shove the needle in . . .
