I only have faint memories of the time before computers, but definitely remember using libraries and physical books to research papers for school.
I hand wrote most of my term papers etc. but cringe at the thought of penning an entire manuscript. Oh, the hand cramps!!

yes we do have it much easier than prior to the 80's....i didn't care for carbon copies or the mess it left on my hands trying to line it up and then take it out after finishing

I agree. We do have it much easier today, in many respects. I too am in awe sometimes over certain works of the past, and how they must have been originally created. Go no further than War & Peace . . .

actually you are right and now with Internet self publishing, one can
create books for family and friends to enjoy.

The word processor was not so hot compared to today's features. It seems everyone wants to be a writer and publish a book. Writing a poem is twice as easy once one had to do it in ones mind. I think I had to remember thirty at one time.

In some respects even the rate of change has increased phenomenally! However, that doesn't apply to me - I would probably still be quicker with a quill than with any keyboard. At my high school typing wasn't offered, and even if it had been I probably would not have taken it, since I had no intention of becoming a typist, LOL...Of course at some point I had to do some typing, and I still have an old IBM Selectric sitting in some dark corner of my basement, though I've lost the ball...
