Re: Pat,
I wonder if those delicious scones could be made with a gluten-free flour. mmm... orange marmelade... now, that's giving me some ideas...

A lady Brit transplant sells the Queen's scones at our Saturday
market during the summer here, and I avoid the scene because I love them so and they are poison to my gut, something about gluten turns the nether regions into a seething swamp...But they are perfection, just the exact amount of butter and in some there's orange marmelade. Damned if I do, damned if I don't. A china teapot, a spot of warm sweet Earl Gray and we're no longer missing the dangerous treats. :)

Re: Kabu,
Yes, scones are more like it. I've been experimenting with savory kinds, with all sorts of tasty fillings. Ham and swiss and onions... spiced apples and cheddar... broccoli, cauliflower, onion, carrot... I pre-cook the vegies and sausage, not counting on the oven at 425F for 10 minutes to do the job.
Yes, I am cheerier today!

Re: CCT,
You cheer me up just waving from your garden! Kabu is right, American biscuits are scones to you and most of the British-derived world, except us because we are born rebels, after all. Lucky birds, for the crumbs of what we would call cookies.
I don't eat cheese much either, since discovering it makes my tummy and, in fact, the rest of me, unsettled. And it is fattening, I think, too.
Yes, it is competitive fencing, like they have in the Olympics, as opposed to theatrical fencing like they have in the movies.

I think your biscuits are more what I would call a scone....nice and yummy
Even with the dark days you sound like hugs and candles have cheered you. Here is another hug just in case one is needed.

I like being the first to cheer folk up except when I don't understand what they are talking about and then I come back and hang on the coat tails of more discerning readers. I don't really like biscuits, I have several boxfuls and am crumbling them up for the birds. I have stopped buying cheese as I just ate it like a lump of cake and I thought it was too fattening. Glad you feel better is that fencing with blades?
