Reader Number 5, reporting for duty!!
My knowledge on Egypt is limited - looks like I have some research to do, if I'm going to keep up with you! But a couple of things did pop out for me here. Like you, I was surprised and delighted that the poll was conducted in the first place.
I was also quite surprised with the peoples feelings towards the upcoming elections and the democratic process. In the 80's and 90's, Mubarak was re-elected multiple times, first because there was a rule stating that no one was allowed to run against the president, and then because Mubarak rigged an election.
I don't remember a lot of the details (to be fair, I was still in high school while this was going on, and distracted with physics homework). But I find it odd that 46% have faith in the fairness of the election process. Perhaps it's because I am a spoiled Canadian, but making it illegal for anyone to run against you seems to be stacking the deck just a bit...how can they have faith in the democratic process when it has such an ugly history of corruption?

I appreciate the information. I do not know the real history. This helps me understand.

It makes sense. How can anyone be happy when being told what and how to think?

Thanks again for more insight into the mess in the Middle East,
We have no business being involved with them. We have oil, we need to be home protecting and regrouping the Constitution of the United States as a Republic and a place of freedom.

A lot of telling statistics there...I don't see it influencing any changes in the Obama Administration though.
