My wife feels the same way, in that God supposedly never gives us more than we can handle. However, if you understand the lesson of Job, supposedly God feels the need to "test" our faith from time to time. Why, I'm not exactly sure. And I don't think God actually "allowed" these recent tragedies to happen. There are other forces at work here, on a grander scale than we could ever imagine . . .

i use the methods of wiley, kabu and dr. it is understanding that we are responsible for ourselves, i also believe we are given what we need to learn from in this life, but with that said if we treat ourselves kindly and try to help others along the way because the road is bumpy for everyone, so i guess forgiveness of ourselves and others fits in somewhere.

I find peace by learning from the difficulties. In each I try to figure out what I did wrong and what I can do better next time. If it is not because of my efforts, I try to understand the other person and why their negative feelings toward me prompted them to double deal.

Faith is a very personal thing. You can't depend on family faith to help you. You must want Jesus to rule your life, repent of your sins, we all have them; the repenting of them means to ask for forgivness and trun around not doing those things again. Ask Jesus to come into your heart which means the Holy Spirit. He will convict you anytime you are not doing the right thing. Reading the Bible is the way to learn and to increase your faith. Yes we go through stuff but we have a payback. You woke up this morning because God did not punch your clock saying you're done. Your life is like the difference in black and white when you have faith.

What Kabu and WileyJohn wrote made sense to me.

I believe that people are responsible for shooting deaths, that people who build in Tornadoe, Cyclone and Hurricane corridors that build too close to the sea, and who create dangerous Nuclear plants or don't keep machinary like airoplanes in perfect running order. These acts can't be blamed on God. So much suffering in the World is our own responsiblity..not particularly yours or mine, but what we do to each other. Like your son...If the facilities where he worked would buy proper lifting devices and teach people how to keep their back safe, then he would not be in this trouble.
