Magical! I like the diffuse light in this picture! Unfortunately, the only Baltimore Orioles we get up here are the kind that play baseball, and they probably won't show up in my backyard...

Re: yellowrose55
I was so surprised that she waited until I went in the bedroom and retrieved my camera. LOL

Fantastic shot, Dear TAPS!
Birds are an endless source of fascination for me, from the differing tones and rhythms of their song, their shapes, colors and designs to their movements in air and on ground. Almost makes all the droppings inconsequential..almost..:)

I love it... how often would a person be looking out their window and see a bird hanging around upside down.
You were'nt kidding it's very woodsy where you live.

Re: Is it an oriole?
It is a female Baltimore oriole. There is a pair of them temporarily here. I'm sure they are in the process of northern migration. They were here for two days last year and then they were gone. They have already been here two days, so it would not surprise me if I don't see them again.

Re: JimmyA
Actually, he is a she. The male is larger than her, and so much brighter orange and with very distinct black markings. I can't believe how beautiful he is. He comes in first and looks around, without eating anything, and then goes back to the large tree to the left (not in pic) and keeps guard while she eats. Most people don't know that he was named after Lord Baltimore because people who named him thought he looked like Lord Baltimore's coat of arms.

Is it an oriole?
We have different pretty birds here in the Northwest, like the Western Tanager, which I have seen once in 35 years.
