I understand that in tests people on mobile phones were worse drivers than drunk people. I don't know how drunk the control group was though....
Personally I grow 2 types of flowers - smelly ones and colourful ones, I have to have both because it's not a garden if it doesn't smell

Re: I choose scent over looks, if it's a nice one.
I agree Ciel some scent is pretty sickly, some flowers of course are interesting to grow and may be challenging. The onslaught of bedding varieties brings in colour but not any great feeling of achievement.

Re: Taps
Taps yes they are wild flower they like low lying meadow soil. More traditional as a visiting option to the villagers probably and most of the oldies have of course gone.

Re: While I enjoy the colored blooms, I do love the scent,
Well I don't know that image Pat, but I'll try to imagine you in the pink slip . Cowslips were once gathered to make wine as were dandelions I think they had to be dried first.
I am sure you have seen them on green stalks with little yellow flowers hanging down.

Only 90 pounds? (Haven't got the proper symbol on my keyboard!) Anyway, that's cheap! I think I'll come over and use my phone while driving around a bit, LOL. Here in Ontario it'll cost me $500...
And I do like your poem, even if I'm not in the mood for resignation at the moment...

While I enjoy the colored blooms, I do love the scent,
and the best things that come from 1-800-Florist do not have much of a scent. I must admit I have no idea what a cowslip looks like, although I've read about them and remember their names. It's kinda weird to visualize a large black & white Holstein wearing a lacy pink silk slip, but that's the image that comes to mind.

Not being familiar with fritillaries, I looked it up and found that it can be either flowers or butterflies. I guess you were referring to flowers since I don't think of butterflies as being clumped together.

I choose scent over looks, if it's a nice one.
There are plenty of scents that flowers put out that I could do without.
As to looks, I like some of the less usual ones, usually. I don't much care for petunias, but I do like those cape primroses you sometimes post... aka streptocarpus. Why do some so-beautiful plants have names that sound like hideous diseases?
