I think the problems really arise when you get the separation between what politicians say to get the support and what they do.  Sadly we have a leader who has been publicly rebuked by the national office of statistics due to the outright lies he tells to gain support.

Well I'll have a biscuit at least it is more substantial than a promise.

I'll wager that people in the West Wing would love eating some of your biscuits.

Ciel

I have never watched the West Wing - I guess it's a gap in my education, LOL. And about the 'massaging' of the voters by 'correct messaging' - whether one likes it or not (and I don't like it any more than I like rainy weather) - it works! And that it works says as much or more about the average voter (and it's all about averages) than it does about those doing it...Relatively few voters have the ability and make the effort to caste a truly informed vote...And the quote is Churchill's, I think, but don't quote me, LOL...

I vote for biscuit day, loved the West Wing, and agree that

the media and the voters are being played. Fortunately there are still many who see through the manipulation to the heart of the matter.
