Stop pretending to be Kabu, she is in Australia. I know her comments would not reach here. What can one do with kangaroos tails that will tell me if you are boni fide.

Re:
Hi lion well a wild pigeon would scoot off from half a mile away when I was a lad and now they waddle about like old hens in front of the window.

Well, it all sounds very charming, except for the cats and small birds, which is nature. I hope your flowers and gardens are soon blooming and producing.

I can't help but wonder if we have all trained the bird to look in gardens for food through years of bird feeders and now they look there first

Re:Jeansaw
Hi JS. I think bread is probably the worse thing to give birds probably bird seed has been treated with weedkillers at one stage. A well known insecticide has been reputed to nobble Bumble Bees, it is warfare out there in the fields. Waiting to see if your seeds survived. I know, once I only grew vegetables and fruit, but in my dotage I explore the other side of the coin. Thank you

Probably not Naut. I have only met one person who had been there, but it sounds good.
I do think the weather is on the up. I would not mind a shower though.

Re: Pat
Yes it was a good idea Pat , now similar versions are sold for big money. I wonder how she deterred the slugs. We did not seem to get any in those days, I think the birds must of eaten them or hedgehogs.

It's a lovely poem. Even when a broken heart is fixed, it might not ever beat the same again. The flowers are beautiful... and those birds well they just think the flowers are beautiful in a different way.
Good luck with that situation.

I thought the verse was so much fun. And the bit about the lettuce
reminded me of my mom's cold frame planting - an old glass-paned French door laid across a frame of 2 x 6" boards where she planted lettuce and spinach before the ground really warmed up in spring - it was kind of a mini-greenhouse.

Love that poem, though I would not necessarily recommend Timbuktu for a get-away, other than for the rhyme, LOL...And we've had no rain either, with the temps almost reaching 30 C, and I love that as well...

you keep that up, letting birds pop cat food down their crops,
and you'll end up with a crop of cat-birds!

one can never predict the weather, it is all over the place here. as far as the birds, i am sure they would rather have food that is not peppered with chemicals, poor things at everyones and everythings mercy. the cat is probably just like his owner and that is why he doesnt eat the birds.
the poem, you might just be getting all kinds of clients, i guess just about everyone in the world suffers from broken heart. and to think the cure is to move, and i guess that is the cure, you gave it away for free. flowers are a wonderful way to get ones mind off of a broken heart.
