In the US those we elect and pay do not say anything. Our country is in a dire state at the present time.

My first day back and I must agree that those who speak up and out against wrong often face dire consequences. I worked in a school district as a teacher and administrator and found myself often speaking up in self defense and wrongs of various kinds or degree. Needless to say I was not politically correct, so the powers changed rules and policies to force me out of a job.

Fortunately, I was not penniless or driven insane as the framers of the constitution and others suffered such fates after doing right for many. Kill the messenger who attempts to change things or stand against the bullying of governmental officials or authority who operates for self and their self serving purposes.

I could go on and on.....

Good topic!

It is amazing how free speech is being treated...A very thorough analysis that explained a lot.

Political correctness has gone totally off the wall, and the worry of saying something "wrong" keeps people from speaking out at all.  It is too much trouble to try to think of some acceptable way to say what one is thinking in olden terms.
