Re: FS
Yes he has medical probs at the moment FS. I don't think he can stand much strain, I could see he was breaking up on his milkround. 1am is a bit early and he ran all night.

Lo Justi hope you are OK. Yes I teach slowly, I find older people learn better that way. I like spring flowers they are kind of a blessing after the cold weather.

Re:Pat
I think most of us had a Teddy Bear, I still have mine, a sad little fellow my brother who was I5 years younger was a proper sadist. He nearly ripped the poor little guy to bits. If I can find him I shall prop him up on the table to shame Arthur. Of course he will deny his sinful action.

I have known a few like Archie, who did not want a permanent job...Life can be very rough on a person. Comparing it to a gamble makes a lot of sense to me.

Loved the post. I hope the lady gets a lesson from you on the computer. I always love your poetry and that flower is such a lovely yellow. The leaves are so strong for such fragile flowers, wonderful contrast.

Like your other readers I looked up fagging hook - using a dictionary
titled "British English A to Zed." It wasn't there, but before I could resort to Google, I found the answer to my question in other comments. The poem is so cool! Teddy bear's like a crochety, recycled old guy who's been through it all before.

It's funny how some people like to keep elements of their life separate, isn't it?

Re: CCT
Yes I expect your forebears used axes for wood gathering Nauy. Ours had to scrabble about cutting small scrubs for faggots ie fag.

Re: ccjeansaw
Probably derived from cutting faggots JS. we also call them sickles. Well a house is a good investment you can always draw money out of it when you begin to creak. I also have a long handled scythe , but I usually only use it as a demonstration feature these days. Unless the grim reaper is borrowing it, you know what he's like.

I pondered if there were an organization of a sort that she could join to occupy her time as well as meet new people, too! And, I love it that you went in and had your way with what you want to toss, too! What they don't know won't hurt them! LOL! sam

time for the tunnel to do its magic. i too looked up fagging hook, we call them sickles. and i do not think you are fussy about your compost.
today i went and got a mortage on our home, if i live to 84 then once again i will own my home. but have come to terms with working for the rest of my life, since we tend to live longer if we keep the old body moving and the mind occupied..
surely i must have had a teddy bear or stuffed animal as a child, but for the life of me i cannot remember, nice poem from the teddy bears view point.

Like TAPS, I too had to Google 'fagging hook' - we here in North America call these things sickles, even they are barely known these days! I can't remember seeing a live one, although we remember them from the days of the late and unlamented USSR, of course...And I also found your poem fascinating...

Now I know.
My Dad was in his upper eighties the first time my sons slipped a whoopie cushion under him. It startled him and then I don't think I have ever seen him laugh so hard. He loved it.
