Re: this is a second comment because i feel compelled

manufactured gods defy explanation

of course the O.T. is an account of a group's concept of an explanation of existence and their ideas are the result of an evolving concept of deity.

of course their god reflects their reaction to the world in which they had to exist and glean sustenance as a people.

the end result is a compilation of literature from several different sources and of course given to us via 16th Century Anglican perception.

this is an issue more complicated that this you know

this is a second comment because i feel compelled

to put it very simply (very), the god of the old testament was blood thirsty and vengeful, vengeance is mine saith the lord. (this is for the jews and christains) then god comes to earth as a man and says the only thing that matters is love.(new testament)  now the christains are better than the jews.  and if man has been on this earth for 100,000 years, why did god wait so long before he made himself known.  the (100,000 years came from a show i was watching on how shovels are made on the discovery channel and they said they have found shovels in caves dating back that far.)   maybe god didnt have enough people to terrorise until recently?  these are just a few of the questions i have, dont have the answers, but i would listen to some reasonable ones.

Yes, I must agree as well. It's an age-old conflict simply because people gave the "wrong answer" to the "god question" . . .

"Do you believe in god?"

"No."

BANG! Dead!

"Do you believe in god?"

"Yes."

"Do you believe in my god?"

"No."

BANG! Dead!

And unfortunately, it's never, ever going to change, or end . . .

The one they captured said they were motivated by religion! And, they follow(ed) radical Islam! This is the present and not years ago! I do not know of any killing nor have I read any recently by Jews or Christians in the PRESENT that say they are motivated by religion!  sam

yes, i have to agree with this post, religion=violence.  is man naturally violent?  i dont know.  maybe people will turn from being religious to being spiritual.  i believe in a higher power but not the god of this world.
