I honestly can't imagine being in that situation for two reasons. First, my wife and I have no children, so that obviously eliminates much of what you're going through for me. And secondly, our marriage and unity is so strong that no one could come between us and our happiness anyway, whether it was children or not. I understand you're now being forced to walk a tightrope, straight and steady, not tending to lean toward one side or the other. But sooner or later, you're going to have to be firm and let everyone know exactly how you feel, regardless of the consequences . . .

Well, your 'bloke' may just be slightly peeved at a situation where he is being forced to play second (or third) fiddle. Maybe he was expecting you to put down your foot and tell your kids, look, this is my man, like it or not, but I will not make allowances if you don't like it...or something to that effect. But I'm sure it'll blow over - most of us blokes don't carry grudges for too long...
