Re:

As I believe everyone else is too, sam. What the fear now is, the copy-cat crimes that will most likely follow. Everyone must remain diligent, as always . . .

I am still in shock over the whole thing! So many lives changed and so senseless. They got them fairly quickly and I am relieved for that, too! sam

Re:

I agree, C C T. Sometimes it's hard to imagine someone having so little concern for human life, while also possessing the desire to kill or maim so indiscriminately. I don't know if you're a Star Trek fan or not, but the character Mr. Spock said something very poignant in one of the films when he exclaimed "As a matter of cosmic history, it has always been easier to destroy than to create." I guess, to these types of people, that includes the lives of others. Sad indeed . . .

So sad Jimmy, is there an answer to all this hatred ? I suppose it has always existed almost everywhere. It is only now that it has become relatively easy to destroy life. For what purpose? One can only assume a warped hatred of humanity.

Re:

I know, mariss. Violence only begets more violence! If we do get bloodthirsty and lose our heads, we're actually no better than they are! My only regret if and when these cretins are caught and brought to "American justice" is that it will probably take years to go through our court system. Swift justice? There's no such thing anymore, for anyone . . .

Re:

Easy there, lustor! I assume you're angry too, but I think the slow boil would be enough! Don't worry . . . whether or not anyone exactly agrees doesn't really matter. I think we're all angered to some extent!

No, I do not want the country to get bloodthirsty with the terrorists, but I do want them brought to American justice.

Re:

I don't think, TAPS, that we'll ever know or fully understand what is really going on in the minds of the people who perpetrate these things. And I think I may be giving them too much credit by referring to them as "people." You never hear of any critters in the animal kingdom pulling such stunts on each other, do you?

Re:

There actually are many people, Against, who do go above and beyond to help others, almost on a daily basis. We just don't hear about them as much. And I believe that that's my second vote of Aye! for the oil consideration . . .

Re: JimmyA

Thanks, Sir Wiley! Although I was speaking out of anger and wasn't necessarily being completely serious, I was hoping to get at least one vote of Aye! for such a proposal . . .

Re: jimmy

That's so very true, jean. We saw it on 9/11, we see it during the college campus shootings, and sometimes, we don't see it at all, but we know it's happening, all over. We would be in serious trouble as a people and as a nation if that particular attitude ever stops or changes . . .

Re: Jimmy

I think it's affected us all too, Naut, primarily because we know it can happen anywhere, anytime, to any one of us or our loved ones. Yeah, I completely understand your "lowering ourselves to their level" retort ( although sometimes it's not a terrible idea to fight fire with fire ). I was just speaking out of anger . . .

Re:

Thanks, FSI. I know more people will probably state that we need justice more than vengeance, but these terrorist's acts are getting ridiculous now! A message needs to be sent . . .

That whole terrible thing really did me in.  I just can't imagine someone doing such a thing on purpose.

We people are an enigma.  It seems it takes a crisis for us to move in the full-bore action mode to help others.  As for the boiling-in-oil suggestion you offer, I cannot in any way disagree.

Boiled in oil sounds appropriate

we do not give our first responders enough praise, the firemen, policemen, ambulance workers, and just ordinary people that turn into heros when the chips are down and run to help instead of running the other way.  they are the glue that hold us together.  this country as never been more equally divided by politics and religion and issues , but our enemies do not understand is that when someone acts against us, it just brings us together.

Aside from that 'boiling-in-oil' business (we do not want to lower ourselves to their level!) I agree with you completely! I deeply appreciate everyone who helped and risked himself/herself in a terrible event, that has really affected us all, I think. I know how it has affected me...

Yes, there are uplifting actions of many...I agree with you as to what should happen once the perpetrator(s) is/are found.
