Re: CCT - totally different experience...

Thanks for telling me about this. Music has a powerful grip, hasn't it? I've changed my tune about the song in the years since... :)

Pat I had a totally different experience. I was a raw recruit it was the first weekend after strenuous training. I was walking around the army camp and paused by an open window. A radio suddenly started to play that song. I  can still feel that nostalgic longing homesickness I suppose. I just stood and listened misty eyed I expect. So while you were singing one version of your song I was probably jumping in and out of trenches. Well we were supposed to jump over them.

Pat

LOL! That song has always struck me the same way - reality ain't quite like that! Another one of that genre is 'People who need people...' etc...

Re: I wonder what factors go into making one cluster of human beings

Ciel, I've wondered that myself. So far I don't have a theory.

Re: Annicita

Yes, I do remember Snuffy Smith - And at the time the irony of reading the "funny papers" was totally lost on me. I loved the comics - Li'l Abner and the rest.

I wonder what factors go into making one cluster of human beings

kind and generous, and another, mean-spirited and spiteful.
