Re:

I believe He was, mariss. It's hard to imagine someone being that lucky without at least some divine intervention . . .

Amazing, it does look like God's hand with him and the younger clerk.

Re:

I suppose that's true, Annicita. Someone wanted to keep this man around fora very important reason. I'm leaning toward the fact that he had a young daughter, probably too young to lose her father just yet!

well i hope he thanks his guardian angels for the save!  just goes to show you never know...

Re:

That's probably very true, lion! You can have all the talent, all the skills, all the potential, all the smarts in the world, but if you're unlucky . . .

Re: jimmy

Thanks, jean. Yes, some people feel we make our own luck, while others feel they are simply "blessed," that someone is always watching over them. Whichever the case, I know I would cherish that belt buckle for the rest of my life too . . .

Re: Jimmy

That's exactly it, Naut. The timing, the bullet's trajectory, the moment this man dove to the floor, the angles . . . all had to be combined perfectly for this man to have walked away from what could have been a potential nightmare! Makes ya think, doesn't it . . . ?

Re:

A question for the ages, TAPS, kinda on a par with "Why do bad things happen to good people?" We all know that no one has the right to play God, and decide who should live and who should die. But sometimes, when you read or hear certain things, it appears that "cosmic justice" is sometimes skewed . . .

Re:

As my wife always says, lovelylady, things happen for a reason. Obviously it wasn't this man's "time" yet! However, when you come that close while working in that area, it might be time to consider other employment options . . .

Re:

I would love to know, FSI, just what that belt buckle actually was! There are some that are small and relatively simplistic, and some that are large and somewhat elaborate! Whatever it was, it was obviously the exact size, shape and thickness he needed to more or less save his life!

Re:

I would say very lucky, lustor! And I hate to say it but, I don't think I would want to work in that area of Philadelphia anymore . . .

like they say: it's better to be lucky than good.

Great story! Sometimes all the factors combine to produce a 'stroke of luck'...

It makes one wonder, why does one die and another live?

Yes, thank God indeed.

I am glad that he was okay. A great move it was to wear a belt buckle.
