Perhaps, sam. Perhaps not! In a way, he really doesn't deserve to get that money back! That'll teach 'im for leaving it lying around in the first place! Do any of us have extra disposable cash that we could afford to have our doggies gobble up? I seriously doubt it . . .

Re: jimmy
It's definitely high on the list, Justi, under the heading "Wierd & Whacky!" I still would have loved to have been a neighbor, watching that "front lawn search," and wondering what these people were doing! However, knowing how our government operates, I have a feeling that these people will never get that money back!

Re: thanks for the chuckle,
Well, jean, there might be two schools of thought about that! Sure, after sifting through all of his doggie's "doings" he might deserve to get some of that money back. But then again, why did he leave such a huge amount of cash lying around in the first place? If they were singles, or even 5 dollar bills, you may not have wanted to make the effort. But hundreds? I'd be out there carefully searching too! Glad you enjoyed this one . . .

When I read about it I wondered why the money wasn't either in the bank or his wallet! Stupidity gets rewarded! LOL! sam

I'm hoping, Bill, that the quarters aren't going directly to the dogs! Or should I say, directly into the dogs! I think paper money may be a little easier to digest . . .

No kidding, TAPS! Not to be overly gross or anything, but it's hard to imagine what his poop would have looked like after that! I mean, we all know about the digestion of corn . . .

Re:
That might be it, C C T. How would one fill out such paperwork to make such a request anyway? Something tells me that years ago, the father may have also been one of those lackadaisical students who used to always tell his teachers "My dog ate my homework!" Now he has to tell the government "My dog ate my money!" For $500, I guess it would be worth it . . .

Re:
Not under those circumstances, Annicita! But then again, if they were singles, I don't think anyone would have bothered to even go through the dog's doodies! But for hundred dollar bills, I think even I might swallow my pride, slip on the rubber gloves, and hope that Sundance's digestive system didn't take too bad of a toll on those bills . . .

Re: Jimmy
Really, Naut? That amazes you? That it should take our wonderful government ( regardless of the agency ) 2 years to do something that may take you or me a few minutes to do should probably not come as a surprise to anyone! More than likely, their plan is to take so long that they're hoping the family will lose track and forget about it, and then they can pocket the money themselves ( if they were so inclined to pocket such money in the first place ) . . .

Re:
Well, let me put it this way, FSI. As much as you may not have wanted to sift through the dog's "doing's," to retrieve $500 worth of bills, you may have bit the bullet and made the effort anyway . . .

Re:
I can believe that, lustor. My wife and I have seen several of those animal shows where they talked to various vets who relayed tales of the unusual things they've surgically removed from dog's stomachs. The one they felt was the most bizarre? A 44 DD bra! They couldn't wait for the owner to come it to claim it . . .

I knew a man (he's dead now, bless his heart) whose dog chewed up his false teeth while he slept, after he took them out and laid them on his bedside table.

I think I would have put this down to experience Jimmy. Although it is said that paper money is heavily contaminated with all sorts of germs.. Perhaps the authorities have a hard job finding someone prepared to examine the claim.

Yep, these folks are idiots! But there's something else that amazes me - that it should take the Feds 2 years to determine whether they have at least 51% of these bills...

Like you I cannot believe that someone would leave that money out in general and in position for the dog to get to it...I'm glad that I did not have to handle the dog's crap.
