I had a similar incident with my adopted alley cat.  I begged for inexpensive salve for his injured tail from a vet's office and then usually affectionate, tame cat would not let me near him to apply the salve.  I never saw him again after that and guess he did not make it.  I hope your cat fared better.

I think it's because we have done so much and now in our years of maturity we have the time to reflect on all we have done and what we have yet to do.

Re: jeansaw

Well jeansaw once people believed the world was flat, I think most people believe what they want to believe and why not, if one can derive comfort from one own inner self, I believe it is something that should be encouraged.

Re: SAm

Well Sam as my brother said if it does not kill a cat it will not do you a lot of harm

heaven,

this poem said to me, that as we grow older, the things we enjoyed so much in youth do not matter much anymore. we start thinking of the the things we or others have done, and maybe question them, funny how as i get older, i am a better person, but enjoying it less and hoping there is more but feeling less sure of the hereafter and what it holds for me.  if you know who has the answers, let me know.  we may not know what the person writing the poem is thinking of, but we read into them what we think we are reading.

Re: Lion

Or first tame your cat, Lion. Some cats are tamer than others.

Re: Naut

Goodness Naut I did not realise that I was being so fashionable, I must admit this is the first winter that I have made such an advance, I usually wear pyjama trousers, but they are not really as warm as thermals. I am glad you like the poem, I don't think it is understood really, not that it is meant to be intellectual, but it would not be too bad to try and visualise something simpler than the impossible.

No Pat that is a silver lining, I can live a worm free existence for at least three months.

Re:kabu...

The only way I can see of doing it, is putting the cat in a cardboard box with a round hole cut in it. The The cat will poke its head through the hole and Bingo it will be simple. This Cat is not housetrained but very cunning and I don't think it would come inside if it felt it was being manipulated.

Re: Taps

Taps I even try to conceal it, but I think there must be a smell that humans are unaware of perhaps next time I will crunch crunch up some fishy food in my hand as a disguise.

I tried that back of the neck stuff on Pitiful several times.
It is not as easy as it sounds.  LOL

where is a camera when you need one!!!LOL...

that stuff is easy to use on the cat but you need to have the cat caught and inside and be all prepared.

I have a vision of the cat cursing beneath the car

and you taking lopsided steps to wash off the chemical with your britches around your ankles. It's funny how we try to act a bit dignified under such circumstances. You probably won't be bothered with worms for a while. :)

CCT

I don't blame Arthur for roaring at that sight, LOL! And you can see the benefits of jazzy black tights! They're the only undies I ever wear - none of those horrible sloppy white things for me! And your poem is amazing - I know I'll return to it time and again...

Reading that reminds me of times I've gotten car wash chemical on me. Not fun...A very interesting poem dealing with afterlife themes.
