Would you believe that there was no such thing as a computer of any kind at my high school. As I look back, I wonder how they managed at all. There were no calculators, except a few nerds who carried and knew how to use slide rules. The only phone was in the office. Time has definitely changed my perspective on an awful lot of things.

Yes, Danny sounds like a good guy. But I doubt that even the other teachers were happy that their students were failing - maybe they were just at their wits' end on finding ways to do something about it. It isn't just the teachers' fault if students fail...
