I have loved the maples and their helicopters since I was a kid. I also love the red maples here in the Spring and Summer.

Isn't it strange how different flavours or substances come from plants or trees grown in the same soil. I am sure if I had a maple tree that gave syrup I would never like to cut into the bark. Very nice photos Taps

Taps, that was very interesting - thank you for the pictures, too.
I noticed that my silver maples "bleed" sap after their limbs have been cut. The power company line crew came by a few weeks ago and trimmed some limbs, and some of them made icicles during the cold spell, they continue to make puddles on the sidewalk as the sap rises and leaf buds form. It makes me sad. I think they're suffering somehow.

I learned a lot about maple trees from this. I am one of those people who did not know there are so many different types.
