I wonder what will cause a shift to where we start learning languages. Even when people learn during school, they do not retain.

one just never knows....im having the same problem with arabic...even when i buy books for egyptian arabic...they differ

Interesting. I think it's the same thing with certain dialects, and almost every country seems to have several. Hey, I'm from Jersey, and sometimes I have trouble understanding someone from Georgia or Misssissippi! As far as Americans learning multiple languages, I think many of us feel that the rest of the world should simply know English, kinda getting us off the hook . . . !
