Re: Jimmy

So I guess, Naut, there was no way of you getting "caught up" in that family feud! But then again, according to this latest info, the feud apparently died out with the brothers! It might still be interesting to see the current make-up of that town . . .

Jimmy

I knew of some of that history. I even drove through that place some years ago when I was visiting a friend in Munich, but I didn't stop there, since my preferred brand is New Balance...

Re: Your specifications? Describe my Pumas - exactly.

There ya go, adnohr! And for me, one of the best things about a simple, solid-white sneaker is that they go with any warm-weather outfit you might put together! I usually try to end up with 2 pairs . . . one that I allow to get a little "ratty," and the other I try to keep as clean as possible for as long as possible, and they more or less become my "dress" sneakers!

Re:

I'm sure it would be, TAPS. I don't have any children of my own, but I do have three brothers, and I know that it would have been horrendous for either of my parents if we behaved even remotely like these two brothers. And they were business partners! Glad to hear your sons get along okay . . .

Your specifications? Describe my Pumas - exactly.

Sibling rivalry can become rather gruesome.  I've seen it.  I'm happy to say that I've never noticed it with my sons.  That would be awful for a loving mother.

Re:

I don't think you would, FSI. From everything I've read at your posts, I don't believe anyone in your family would take that type of extreme action against another family member! Family squabbles of this magnitude must be rare . . .

Re:

There ya go, mariss! You might as well take sides in this sibling rivalry!

Re:

I'm sorry to hear that, lustor. I guess there's a huge difference between "sibling rivalry" and "sibling rift!" And you're right . . . most of these types of products are probably made in China, so the concept of a "family business" has lost all meaning . . .

Re:

Thanks, mariss. Yeah, I guess that all could be chalked up to "What if . . . ?" Had the two Dassler brothers gotten along and stayed together, who knows what they would have accomplished! And I guess we'll never know what they're combined company would have eventually been called either . . .

Re: JimmyA

Then I guess it's safe to say, Bill, that the term "sibling rivalry" has virtually no meaning for you! I guess in a way that's good. Hopefully this isn't an old wound I'm opening up here but . . . do you think you may have wanted a brother or sister or two, or would it have made any difference to you one way or the other?

Re:

That's good to hear, sam. Yeah, I have no loyalty to any shoe manufacturer either. Just give me what I want at the best price available and I'm happy!

Re: JimmyA

I understand, Wiley. I know you had mentioned in the past certain rifts that had risen between you and your brother ( or was it brothers? ) I hope this didn't take you down a bad memory lane. I just thought it was interesting not just from a sibling point of view, but also from a business point of view, since everyone is familiar with both Adidas and Puma. Nothing boring over here . . .

Re: actually my two sons have always adored each other which is great.

Consider yourself very fortunate, Kabu! I think for every pair of brothers I know who get along wonderfully, there's another pair who don't! But none who display such extreme actions as these two brothers did . . . !

Re:

Really, adnohr? To be perfectly honest, I didn't know they were still in existence! Personally I never really had any preference for one brand or another. My only specifications were high tops ( I like the feeling of protection for my ankles ) and solid white! No stripes, no pumps, no loud logos, nothing glowing, nothing lighting up . . . just plain, ol' solid white! Not as easy to find as you might think . . .

Re:

I'm hoping, adnohr, that being German wasn't necessarily a key factor, just a simple coincidence! Glad to know there's nothing that bad going on in your family . . .

That is an intense sibling rivalry there. I can't imagine my sister and I getting that into it while running the car washes.

P.S. On second thought, I am glad the one who worked with the Gestapo had some trouble.  I commented first before thinking it through.  I would still get Adidas.

very interesting story, too  bad now they are probably made in China.  No rivalry with my brother we just dont speak

That was an extremely interesting story.  And to think Reboks suit me best and the "other" brands I get at this time at an outlet!   The town and they could have been a lot more prospersous and Adidas a better Co if they had gotten along in most liklihood.  Great Post.

That was such an interesting post! I did not have a clue that even happened! What's comical is that I have shoes from all 3 companies and no preference for any company! My daughter likes Nike but not the expense and I keep telling her she has to pay for Tiger and Rory! LOL! I do not have any disagreements with my sibling so this would never happen, thankfully! sam

I wouldn't want to write anymore on that than I have over the years. Now I try to stick to writing post of no longer than 500 words and even manage to bore myself by their length.

Not in my personal family, but I do know of one where those feelings exist - bigtime!! Oddly enough, they are Germans too.
