Re:
There are, TAPS, although it seems that most of them are scattered around. I never heard any follow up to this story, so we still don't know why this woman pulled this particular hoax. But I believe the Girl Scouts made out in the end, and sold all of their cookies . . .

Great ending to a confusing story. There really are good people in this world.

Re:
That would be nice, mariss. And I guess this woman really didn't think her little hoax through. The Girl Scouts would have ended up being more punished than her former employer had those people not rallied and bought up those thousands of boxes! It's hard to imagine sometimes what's going through certain people's minds when they perpetrate something like this! But I think it's all going to work out in the end . . .

Re: JimmyA
That she was, Wiley! Of all the things to do to get back at her former company, why she chose this particular ruse I suppose only she knows! But it looks as though there will be a happy ending, and the people in and around that community in Portland will be eating Girl Scout cookies for a long time! Not that that's necessarily a bad thing . . .

Re:
It was a wonderful gesture, Annicita, one that everyone who hears this story can rally around. The irony is, in perpetrating this hoax, the woman wasn't really punishing her former employer but rather the Girl Scouts, who were obviously an innocent pawn in her little game. Regardless, it appears as though this is heading for a happy ending, and I'm sure that's fine by everyone . . .

Re: jimmy
Not a bad idea, jean. Yeah, we seem to constantly hear about all of the bad news and ills of the world . . . how about more of these "feel good" stories? You know, something to let people know that there are still kind, decent folks in the world!

Re:
It sure is, adnohr. Yeah, there's a lot of good and bad everywhere, but in many cases, it appears that the good can still triumph over the bad! It's too bad that many of the congressmen and senators out there can't learn something from these types of stories . . .

Re:
I'm not overly familiar with Portland myself, sam, but just from this story I can say that it must be a decent place to live. And as they say, you can't allow one bad apple to spoil the whole bunch, or in this case, besmirch an entire community . . .

Re: Did you know that half of what you pay for GS Cookies
I never knew that, Ciel, and I guess it makes the purchases of those cookies that much more special. However, I don't know how many people might actually claim Girl Scout cookies in their income tax forms, although that would make for an interesting conversation to have with either an IRS claims adjuster or your H & R Block representative . . .

Re: That woman should be made to decide between paying for all the
Yes, there is, Kabu! And you know, I don't think making that woman eat all of those cookies would be sufficient punishment. She probably should be made to pay for all of those cookies, and then her punishment should be to be forced to watch others enjoying them!

Re:
You're welcome, lovelylady. And I have a feeling that the woman who perpetrated the hoax was probably not aiming her angst towards the Girl Scouts as much as she was aiming it at her former company. The poor Girl Scouts just got caught in the middle. She probably would have accomplished the same thing by ordering 100 pizzas from a local pizzeria! Yeah, what comes around goes around and I'm sure just punishment is heading that woman's way! And if that happened around here, my wife and I would have definitely purchased at least a case of those thin mints . . . !

Unfortunately, FSI, there are many of those out there! I know a lot of people ( like my wife ) who love those Girl Scout cookies! Yes, it would have been a major shame if they all went to waste . . . !

Re:
See, lustor? They say there's good and bad everywhere! It's nice to know that although there are still those who, for their own selfish reasons, love to ruin other's lives, that people will step up and help the unfortunates. Hopefully they can sell all of those cookies . . .

Re: Jimmy
I suppose "Your welcome" is in order, Naut. Yeah, it's nice to hear a story every once in a while about a group somewhere doing their best to "right a wrong," and show others that we can all still be civil and lend a hand to each other when the situation calls for it!

Good to hear it turned out that well Part I. The prankster should have had to buy some of them if any were left over. She didn't even bother the Company that much, just a good organization. I hope they sold them all and got to eat a few boxes as a bonus!

Who knows what the company did to P O that woman so much that she did that! However having said that does not mean that I advocate what she did....I'm so glad to hear that the community rallied around the scouts and are helping them sell all those boxes

Pat's post on the Toy store saved by the community, and now your Girl Scouts. We know people out there are still decent, caring humans, but it is great to read about the proof!

I read about this story and the woman should be ashamed of herself and perhaps prosecuted as well! I have been to Portland and the folks there are very nice no matter when one might go! sam

Did you know that half of what you pay for GS Cookies
is tax deductible as a charitable tax deduction? I knew a tax accountant who bought a case of her favorites every year, stuck em in her freezer and used them through the year.

That woman should be made to decide between paying for all the
cookies that haven't been sold or eating them. What a Witch.....but how nice to read that so many people rallied around the girls and bought cookies. There is still decency in the World and community Spirit.

Jimmy,
You're right. The beginning of this story absolutely disgusted me! How can anyone be so cruel to children? I just don't understand people sometimes. Never really have, never really will, I guess.
But I say God bless the people of the city of Portland, Oregon for coming to the rescue! I like to believe that there are far more compassionate and jest people living in the world than people like that woman. Whether charges are ever pressed against her or not won't really matter as you say...but she WILL get what's coming to her one day.
If I could, I would happily take some of those cookies off their hands!
If you do hear a follow up story, please share it with us?
Thanks for brightening my day!

That is great that the people came through for the girlscouts...While I like a good prank, I don't like pranks that could potentially waste food.

I heard this story and I was thinking some kind hearted rich person would buy them or donate the money. The poor girl scouts are always getting messed with, someone stole money from them here and people did the same thing and got them their money back
