yes it is expensive so people who visit from Canada tell me, I can't see it is any more expensive for living that here or the States.

What's sad is this is so true.  My position as a specialist at a toy store was eliminated.  They could pay 2 teenagers minimum wage and still come out ahead in their pennypinching state of mind but what they didn't realize that these teens don't care as much as someone who is supporting a family.  Not only that those teens like to party and can't work certain days or hours.  I had to take a job as a temp making less money.  That job hired me on full time and I was back again making a decent wage.  A few years down the road they of course sent our jobs overseas to India where they were paying pennies on the dollar for what they were paying us.  Once again I was without work.  I couldn't even get a temp job this time.  I have been working the same 2 jobs since then.  No benefits...no vacation....no paid breaks or lunch....no insurance....

Currently the full-time minimum wage is $15.96 per hour or $606.40 per week. This means that most employees in the national system shouldn't get less than this.

drive a car with payments and insurance, then gas on top of it, then they have to buy decent clothes to wear, sometimes min wage just doesnt help them out, it is better to stay home and look for something better while collecting unemployment.

i will know in a another month, when i file my taxes if i can still afford to go out to work.

sounds crazy, but true, i dont know the answers to all this.

Re:

I'll have to agree . . . you get what you pay for! There are a lot of skilled workers out there who actually have a great work-ethic, and are really worth much more than $7.25 an hour! Unfortunately, on the other side of the scale, we also have a lot of dolts working out there who really aren't worth $7.25 an hour! What is a nation to do . . . ?

That is exactly what happens. A lot of good paying jobs also eroded because of machines.
