I wonder if I will have any friendships that last that long as well. I can see some of my friendships lasting that long, but who knows?

Oh I do have friends who have been in my life for more than thirty or forty years. One who does not live in my state but we talk on the phone that has been a friend for over 50 years.

Okay, I think I can top that . . . my closest friend Howard and I have been friends since Kindergarten, which is going on . . . let's see . . . 47 years now! We've had our ups and downs, like any friendship of that long of a time period, but are still always there for each other ( my wife says we sometimes carry on like an old married couple ).

she wasn't a friend...she was your critic...who needs that? I find if I go to events that I am interested in that I will meet like minded people to find acquaintances.
I joined a writer's group that I have been co chair of for about 8 years. I miss going to meetings when I am out of town or working.
If you go to church see if there is a committee or group you can join that interests you...volunteer a local school or some cause you believe in...you will be amazed how many people you will meet.

Since i have lived in Florida, i have lost contact with all my friends in NYC. I had several there, but here i only have had one true friend for the past 20 years, but we are seeing less and less of each other. I do have one son that lives close by and visits, the other comes for a week each year and we visit him for a week.

I don't have friends here either...but Wiley and I are happy together and
you are blessed with your family close to you. I agree that a true friend doesn't criticise, not a true true friend.
