Go to Life in the fast lane--where's the on ramp?

Well you make interesting comments Pat, I have been doing my accounts and believe me I would rather have writers block. I honestly think as one becomes older one should try to look forward to pleasing events. We are never going to get everything we want, but we should have a real good try.

You live a full life while I sit too much and haven't been able to write for a long time.I need to take a month and think about all this writing business. I read a lot and really admire the way real writers can create understandable scenes in my head. Down to the description of a bureau in a bedroom, or the bedroom itself. You do all that like a pro too, I think too much about the fact I was involved with machinery all my life, that makes for very boring reading unless you know the machinery I'm writing about. LOL

If I may be so blunt, I say, whether you're experiencing writer's block or not, it may be time to turn off those ridiculous soaps! Being so caught up in the lives of fictional characters can't be helping anybody . . . !

Re: adnohr - the problem is when to write...
There's a book "The Artist's Way" that is extremely useful for writers - there's also a workbook to accompany it. The deal is to write every morning for 30 minutes, by hand, and don't take pen from paper to edit, correct, re-think. Don't censor yourself as you write, just let the pen flow. You'll find out what's perking in that file drawer you call a mind, and stuff that's swimming close to the surface will suddenly splash and tell you what's next. It's almost magic.

We're in the same boat, except mine is books instead of TV. I read somewhere that one has to read to be able to write; a similar type of writing lesson. It makes sense. But...the problem is when to put down the book, or turn off the TV...and write.
