Bez, thanks for the comment
Just a note to clarify, this post. I've been writing a memoir on this blog since last May. It is chronological. I'm up to 1985. I did eventually move to this commune in Austria. Stick with me if you can. I'm trying in retrospect to better understand my own motivations at the time.

I think I understand
Four years ago I felt the urge to move across country. My problem was the opposite of yours. I had too much intimacy with too many people. Moving here, was the best thing I ever did. It gave me a sence of freedom and independence that I couldn't had gotten any other way. It made me face my fear of change, and loneliness. It forced me to trust strangers (since I didn't know ANYONE here). Six months later my mother moved here, and a month after that, my brother and his wife followed! We all love it here.
And it all started with an urge to change something! Good luck with whatever you decide to do. I just wanted to let you know that this feeling that upsets your stomach can lead you to a great place!
